Folsom, California / CRWE Press Release / March 31, 2026 — The California Roughriders, a member team of the National Junior College Prep (NJCP) Football League, are proud to announce the addition of Leon Brown as the team’s Offensive Line Coach for the 2026 season.
A former professional offensive tackle with experience at the collegiate and NFL professional levels, Brown brings an elite-level perspective on player development, technique, and discipline to the Roughriders’ coaching staff.
Brown’s football journey began through the junior college route before advancing to one of the most demanding programs in the nation: University of Alabama football under legendary coach Nick Saban. During his time with the Crimson Tide, Brown developed in a championship-caliber environment and was part of a team that competed in the SEC Championship Game during the early College Football Playoff era.
As an offensive lineman, Brown played alongside some of college football’s most recognizable talent, including Derrick Henry and Amari Cooper, gaining firsthand experience in the level of preparation and execution required to compete at the highest level.
Following college, Brown signed as an undrafted free agent with Baltimore Ravens after the 2015 NFL Draft, continuing his career at the professional level. He later added additional professional experience with the Birmingham Iron, further expanding his understanding of the game from player development to advanced technique and preparation.
The California Roughriders view Brown’s appointment as a major step in strengthening the development environment for athletes preparing for the next level.
Brown’s coaching philosophy is built around technique, discipline, and football IQ. Having advanced through every stage of the football journey from junior college to a top-tier NCAA program and professional football, he brings a unique ability to mentor players who are working toward collegiate and professional opportunities.
In addition to his playing career, Brown has earned two college degrees, reflecting the same level of commitment and discipline off the field that he now expects from the athletes he coaches.
His mission with the Roughriders is clear: to develop dominant offensive linemen and disciplined young men who are prepared to succeed both on and off the field.
As the Roughriders prepare for the 2026 NJCP season, Brown’s experience from JUCO to the NFL is expected to play a key role in helping athletes sharpen their technique, improve football IQ, and build a stronger pathway to the next level.
