Birmingham, Alabama / CRWE Press Release / April 15, 2026 — The Birmingham Bears enter the 2026 season with a coaching staff rooted in experience, leadership, and a strong commitment to athlete development both on and off the field.

Representing one of Alabama’s most football-rich communities, the Bears are led by Head Coach Eric Phillips, a Birmingham native whose journey through the game reflects the values the program aims to instill in its athletes.

Phillips began his playing career at Wenonah High School, where he earned a scholarship to University of Southern Mississippi and lettered throughout his collegiate career. After two seasons of professional arena football, he transitioned into coaching and has since spent more than a decade developing athletes at the high school and collegiate levels.

His coaching résumé includes the development of All-State defenders, scholarship athletes, and players who have gone on to professional opportunities. Beyond football, Phillips emphasizes discipline, accountability, leadership, and life preparation as key parts of the Bears’ culture.

Supporting the program is Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Eddie Hall, who brings 17 years of coaching experience across Alabama and a strong reputation for offensive innovation and player development.

Hall has served in multiple leadership roles throughout his career, including offensive coordinator, head coach, and running backs coach, helping guide programs to historic seasons and developing more than 20 student-athletes who have earned scholarships.

On defense, the Bears feature a staff with championship-level experience.

Linebackers coach Brandon Lewis played at East Mississippi Community College before continuing at University of Alabama, where he was part of a national championship program under Nick Saban and Kirby Smart.

Defensive Backs Coach Alvin Agee adds extensive experience in athlete development, performance training, talent management, and collegiate and professional player placement.

Together, the Bears staff reflects a wide range of football experience, from Alabama high school football to collegiate championships and professional development pathways.

The Birmingham Bears continue to provide athletes with a structured environment centered on coaching, competition, and growth as they pursue the next level.
