Las Vegas, Nevada / CRWE Press Release / June 3, 2026 — As another high school graduation cycle comes to a close across the country, the National Junior College Prep Football League remains focused on the athletes who leave high school with football ability but without a defined next step. For those players, NJCP offers a competitive, team-based environment where they can continue building verified game film and developing under experienced coaching staff while maintaining NCAA eligibility.
The league operates on a full season format with all games nationally livestreamed. Athletes compete in defined roles with real coaching installation and consistent practice schedules. The model is designed to mirror the expectations of a college football program. For athletes enrolling in college courses, NJCP's academic partnership provides registration support, financial aid guidance, and academic mentoring throughout the season.
But the opportunity NJCP provides only becomes real when an athlete decides to pursue it. For many players, graduation marks the point where football stops being automatic. There is no next season handed to them, no roster spot waiting. The athletes who enter NJCP are the ones who make a deliberate choice to keep going when the easier option is to move on.
"A lot of athletes graduate and just assume football is over because nobody told them otherwise," said NJCP President Shawn Jones. "We built this league for the ones who are not ready to accept that. But we cannot want it for them. They have to get out of their comfort zone, believe in themselves, and take that first step on their own."
Jones noted that every athlete currently in the NJCP system started the same way. Not with a highlight reel or a phone call from a recruiter, but with a personal decision followed by action.
"Nothing happens without putting action to thought," Jones said. "You apply, you answer the phone, you commit. That is how it starts. Everything else the league provides comes after that moment."
Getting started with NJCP begins at njcpfootball.com. Athletes submit an application, connect with their assigned head coach and begin preparing for the season alongside their team.
With the 2026 season scheduled to kick off in August, NJCP teams across the country are finalizing rosters and entering the last phase of preseason preparation. Roster spots remain available, and the league encourages athletes who are considering their options after high school to begin the application process now.
